Fall 2022: Outfits I’ve been wearing recently

Hello one and all! I will be popping in here and there with new content when I remember to snap a pic of my outfits amid my busy school and work schedule this season. I wanted to make a come back this week and check in on the blog since it has been like 5 months since I last posted. Nothing special but just some uncoordinated inspiration for you based on what I have been wearing lately. I promise to bring you more content soon!

  1. Leather jacket + white t-shirt + grey pants

I tried to snap this picture really quickly while I had the train car to myself on my commute so sorry for the expressionless look on my face! I really like this look. It is simple, comfortable, but with a little edge. I recently picked up this leather jacket (24.99$) and I haven’t worn many jackets other than this one since I bought it! I have been trying to find as many outfits to make with this as possible. I decided to make this the centrepiece of the outfit and build around it. I wanted to outfit beneath to be a little more on the plain side so that the jacket would shine through along with the accessories I paired with it. The white t-shirt is from Simons, the trousers are thrifted, sunglasses are from Eyebuydirect, and tote is from Mûre + Grand in New York City (I went there during the summer break). Not pictured here, but I paired the outfit with white socks and white Puma shoes. Overall, I think it was a very good outfit to go to school in.

2. Black collared shirt + maroon pleated skirt + Dr. Martens 1461

I am realizing I may have to make a recent pickups post as I have a lot of new items! This outfit was also built around one single item; in this case, the beautiful maroon pleated skirt. The skirt is thrifted (6.99$) but it is originally from H&M, and I have been looking to pick this one for a while so when I saw it at the thrift, I had to get it! I wanted the skirt to be the centrepiece, again, so I didn’t want the other pieces to overshadow the presence of the skirt, both in colour and texture. I decided to pair the skirt with this wonderful black collared top that my boyfriend bought me for my birthday from Simons, and with black shoes to match. In this case, I went with the Dr. Martens 1461 shoes that my boyfriend also got me for my birthday (thanks babe). Pop on a white sock for some juxtaposition and I was set! The skirt is both elegant and practical as I was not constantly worried it was lifting. This is definitely in my repertoire to stay.

3. Blue blazer + burnt orange pants + orange scarf collar

I love this outfit! For those keen eyes out there, yes, I took inspiration from Harry Styles’s red carpet look at the Venice Film Festival in September for the opening of Don’t Worry Darling. I saw his outfit and immediately decided that I needed to recreate it. As always, all pieces are thrifted!

4. Puffed-sleeved dress + pearl necklace

I recently picked up this dress at the thrift store and fell in love with it immediately. I fall for anything with an accentuated shoulder or puffy sleeves, I do not know why. I love the colour palette with theses greens and yellows. I knew I had to get it. The way I am styling it is with a belt to accentuate my natural waist line as the dress was a little awkwardly flowy. The black belt paired nicely with my black Apple watch band and my Dr. Martens 1461s that I added to this outfit. I made sure to add some extra jewelry like my pearly necklace and rings to give some more oomph to the outfit. And there you have it! For some reason, this outfit makes me think of the painting “Birth of Venus” by Sandro Botticelli. Love it!

5. 80’s sweater + white jeans + grey beanie

I think this outfit is so cute, but then again I think all of my outfits are cute! I recently picked up these items (3 guesses where), and I have been dying to style them. They actually worked perfectly together. This 80s sweater from Sears goes super well with these Chic Jeans and the grey beanie really completes the cabin look I was going for. It really does scream 80s ski trip, which is a style I have been quite enjoying recently. Not to mention, knitwear is a super comfortable way to stay warm and stylish during the winter. Also a huge point that I will no doubt expand on in a future blog post, is layering! Canadian winters can be unforgiving at times but you don’t want to sacrifice your style, so opt for some warm layering pieces so you can stay warm while also staying stylish! Jeans with a wider fit and big chunky sweaters offer you the space to put an extra shirt or leggings underneath your top layer.

That’s all for now! Thank you for tuning in to another instalment of my blog. Hopefully, I will be back sooner than 5 months but I am a busy bee! Let me know what you would like to see from the blog next!
