Top 5: My Best Thrifted Items

My love of thrifting started in 2017 when I watched YouTubers find affordable pieces that made their style unique. It offers a second chance to items that would otherwise be thrown away as well as a more cost-effective way to find some really cool (+ unique) pieces for your ever-growing wardrobe. I usually frequent thrift stores at least once a week to survey the newest items and hopefully snatch a good find or two. Over the last 4 years of thrifting, I have come across quite a few good items and I have compiled a list of some of my best finds (for now).

  1. Black loafers ($10.99)

As I looked through the shoe aisle a few weeks ago and came across these like-new loafers, I practically heard angels sing I was so happy. I had been on the hunt across all stores (online and in-person) for the best pair of loafers. I cannot express how quickly I snatched these up. These shoes go perfectly with any fit but especially those that required that extra touch of elegance without having to endure high heels all day. With added comfort slip-ins, these shoes can be worn all day without compromising your style. Very good buy, 9/10.

2. Black purse ($6.99)

On my lengthy hunt for elevated basics, I came across this beautiful like-new crossbody purse. I absolutely love the gold hardware on this piece. Since I can so easily pair this with a simple black outfit and my gold earrings and look chic as ever. Not to mention that this has become my go-to/everyday purse so I have gotten my $6.99 worth. Extremely good buy, 10/10.

3. Denim jacket ($17.49)

One of the thrifted items that I wear the most (especially in our cold fall/winter months) is my denim jacket. It has a light wash and and a few big pockets and, best of all, it’s oversized! I’m able to layer a thick sweater underneath and still move around comfortably. It is for sure a fall staple. 9/10.

4. Trousers ($6.99 & $8.99, respectively)

As mentioned in my “How to elevate a basic look” post, I love to wear trousers. I practically live in them. There are such an easy — and sometimes affordable — way to elevate your look and help you feel more put-together. My all-time favourites are my black and beige pairs as I use them most often. Yet another time, the thrift gods shone their light down upon me the days I found these pants. They are so incredibly comfortable while not giving up any style. (Wink, wink, look in the men's section if you want trousers with more pocket space.) I could not have asked for better. 10/10

5. Long faux-leather jacket ($20.49)

Ever felt like being Neo from the Matrix? Thrift one of these coats and I guarantee it’ll fulfill your wishes. I picked this one up for a steep $20.49 (very pricey compared to other thrifted items) but it is completely worth it as I would’ve probably paid triple (if not more) at a regular retail store. I use it on brisk fall and spring days with a turtleneck or light sweater underneath and sometimes as a raincoat, though that isn’t its recommended use. It’ll give a bit of edge to any outfit and it definitely is a staple in my fall/spring wardrobe. 9/10

And that’s my list! It is sure to grow and I will definitely have a part two in this series when I have curated my closet a little bit. Let me know what you think of these items. What are your favourite items you picked up from the thrift store? Chime off below!
