2022 Shopping: Styling Recent Pickups
I haven’ t made a post in a while as I was focusing on school but I have had the time to do some shopping in between and pick up a few interesting items that I wanted to style. Most of them are from H&M, but only because they had so many good deals and irresistible pieces that I had to jump on. Come along with me as I style things for casual to classy looks, and everything in between!
Floral dress from H&M ($19.99)
We love using items more than one way! The main item here is the floral dress I got on sale at H&M the other day. The first way I styled in is as a dress. I cinched my waist with a black belt, added black nylons, a blue beret, and pearl necklace. I like this outfit because the hat pulls out the faint blue accents on the dress.
The second way of styling this dress….is as a shirt! Precisely as you may imagine, I simply tucked in the dress (with great difficulty and determination) into my blue jeans and added the same black belt from before to give it a more 70s western feel to it.
2. Black puffer coat from H&M ($24.99)
I nabbed this goodie last weekend! It was the only one at this amazing price and it happened to be in my size. Is that not written in the stars? This coat is one that I have had my eye on for a long while. It is very comfortable and surprisingly warm. I would style this with any black outfit or any outfit that was more casual and didn’t necessitate a long coat. Here I styled it with a basic black suit and white t-shirt with a pearl necklace as an accent.
3. Yellow leisure suit from H&M ($19.99 each)
Ah, yes, a leisure suit. That is what my Dad likes to call these loungewear sets so I’m sticking with that name. I really like this yellow colour. It is perfect for spring! Also, I have seldom been able to find a pair of sweatpants that are high-waisted and wide-leg. This is perfect for a day sitting about doing some homework or just relaxing. I will be wearing this for as long as the weather permits me.
4. Black wide-leg sweatpants from H&M ($19.99)
These are the same sweatpants as the previous entry but in black! I had gotten these originally and loved them so much that I went back for the yellow pair. I like this colour as it offers a more professional and put-together look. Here, I have styled in with my favourite black sports bra top and this blue Calvin Klein button-up from the thrift store. In the second outfit, I styled it with my Steamboat Willie tee from Uniqlo for a more casual look. Either one of these outfits would pair superbly with my black puffer coat!
5. Green turtleneck from H&M ($14.99)
I know I have featured this top on the blog before but I thought I might show you another way I am styling it. Before I had gone with a very put-together, business casual look. Here, I dress it down a little bit without giving up any style! I dug out these Levi’s blue dungarees and put my hair in a half-braid half-ponytail hairstyle for this look that is reminiscent of Southern charm. I am playing with some of those bold colours I talked about in an earlier blog post to make the outfit more modern. This outfit would be cute with boots or white high-top Converse.
6. Pineapple blouse from Zara ($14.99)
I got this top from Winners but it’s a Zara top so we’ll just go with that. When I was scouring the aisles, this stood out immediately. The bold colours and print made me pick it up in awe, The back has this corset moment that I love. I think it goes well with these taupe pants for a ‘vacation dad chic’ look. I would love to try this top with more colourful pants and accessories!
7. Blue pants from Value Village ($3.99)
Finally, we have these blue pants I picked up from Value Village. I have been looking for blue pants so that I may style the same outfits I had for the summer for cooler weather. I have similarly coloured shorts that I usually styled with this 70s boho top during the summer. I always try to match similar colours together when putting together an outfit and that’s exactly what I did here. The small blue details from the top are pulled out by the blue pants. I would love to style this with some brown boots!
